Romania

So, finally I'm updating this.
Well, in November 2008 I flew to the beautiful city of Cluj-Napoca in Transilvania. It was a Saturday, so I had some time to get used to everything before starting my internship on monday morning. The flight alone was very old fashioned, an almost empty Boeing 737, about 20 people on it, but a very polite Romanian crew and good, typical Romanian food (great sweets, by the way).
And finally, when we arrived, what came into sight was the smallest aiport you can imagine, the runway separated from the street next to it only by a small, white garden fence. And the runway itself had quite a few wholes and bumps.
Fortunately, I was picked up by lovely Christina from the local commitee of Aiesec there and shown the way to my new room in a small apartment right next to the river Somes. It had a great view on some parts of the city (the Hungarian opera house) and the city park which stretched out along the other bank of the river and further down the street until it reached it end, far out of sight.

My new home was Mamaia nr.12 and I shared it with two amazing and welcoming girls, Maura and (another) Christina, who helped me to settle down and showed me around the city (helped me to find the right bus and accompanied me to the mall to get groceries and so on, just the basics, but how to know about it when you're new and don't know anythin about the place?)
My first morning there was, if I remember correctly, very sunny and bright (ok, yes I didn't have curtains then), though cold, and I woke from the sound of the tram passing on the other side of the river.
